Toronto born bassist SHELLY BERGER has been active as an arranger/composer/producer and leader in many jazz and contemporary music settings. As an arranger and bassist, his 9 years in Los Angeles included record and/or tour dates with Diana Krall, the Louis Bellson Big Band and Quartet, and the musical director chair with Anita O’Day.
Highlights also include performances and or recordings with: Kenny Burell, Herb Ellis, Lew Tabakin, Ernestine Anderson, Ruby Braff, Mark Murphy, Joanne Brackeen, Red Norvo, Don Menza, and Blood Sweat and Tears featuring David Clayton Thomas, to name a few.
SHELLY has also worked as an arranger /producer for:
Sharon, Lois and Bram, Quartetto Gelato, Matt Dusk, TSN baseball theme for the Toronto Blue Jays and Expos, TSN Sportsbreak, Sesame St. and has produced/arranged and or recorded with a number of different pop acts including Three Dog Night, Lorrena McKennit, Chaka Khan and Don Ross. Shelly has released 4 CDs of his own work - Solana, The Shelly Berger Big Band, Shelly Berger, and his newest CD entitled “LOOK UP”.
